ENS stands for Early Neurological Stimulation; the protocols for ENS became popular through an article written by Dr Battaglia. Dr Battaglia breeds German shepherds, is an AKC judge and a director of the AKC. research shows that if you stimulate the neurological system while its developing (from 3 days to 16 days of life) you can change the puppy for the rest of its life. ENS results in greater tolerance to stress, greater resistance to disease, faster adrenal system, stronger heart rate, and stronger heart beat. You can only give this gift to your puppies once between the window of 3-16 days after birth.
This curriculum starts at week 3 of the puppies life. I as the breeder introduce and subject the puppy to many sights, smells, sounds, textures, scenarios, and more to build up the puppies confidence and tolerance. This is important for both puppies that go to families as an amazing pet and also important for my puppies that go to homes where they will be doing service work or therapy work. This curriculum shapes and forms a confident well rounded puppy for its future family and sets them up for success in their life.
At week 7 I temperament test the puppies. I do this individually with each puppy and I score them based on what I know about the puppy from watching them grow for the past 7 weeks but also how they react to the series of tests that I present to them. Most breeders don't know how to do this and to have a trainer to this is anywhere from $200 to $400. I do it for free. I believe that regardless of what home and circumstance my puppies end up in whether that's family pet, ESA, or service work; people have the right to know what motivates there puppy, what their personality is like, and what makes them tick. This ensures that the family picks the right puppy for themselves and their situation. It also in a way gives each puppy a voice on what home and family would be best suited for them. After I complete the temperament test on each puppy I will send the results out to the families on the waiting list so you can see each puppies results and start to think about which puppy you would like to bring into your family. I will be there every step of the way to help you with any questions or concerns you might have.
This is a part of our program that I decided to do because I really wanted to help a child that needed a service dog but couldn't afford it. We happen to breed one of the "fab 4" breeds (poodles) and is an excellent choice for service work.
Every year we choose one lucky child to receive a puppy to train as a service dog for them at no cost (please understand that we will only be donating the puppy not the cost of training). if you know someone who you think would benefit from having a service dog please message us on our instagram introducing the child and telling us what disabilities they struggle with that the puppy will be trained for. Once we get all the information needed we will add them to the list and will choose one of them to receive a puppy from our last litter we have that year!
This company donates a vest to every donated puppy! The owner of this company is amazing and she was so happy to help me with my mission to get more costs covered for the service dogs I donate for children! This is what she had to say about how she got started and why she donates with us! “We created The Dave Sagor Project in memory of my father. Dave Sagor was a career military man, serving in both the Air Force and then the Army. He was the father of 6 children, fiercely patriotic, could talk for hours about military history, told the absolute worst dad jokes, and had a razor sharp sense of humor. He also loved to help people. Working with organizations that assist things he was passionate about allows us to honor his memory, the life he loved, and show that, even now, he’s still making a difference. The Dave Sagor Project is our way of sharing him now that he’s gone.”
